LONDON: ITV has commissioned ITV Studios’ Potato to produce The Family Chase, a new version of the hit game show The Chase that has aired in more than ten countries worldwide.

Each episode of The Family Chase looks on as a different family tries to stay one step ahead of the chaser for the chance to win a cash prize. Contestants must answer a series of general-knowledge questions in order to get ahead. The six-episode show is due to debut on ITV later this year.

The Family Chase was commissioned by Helen Warner, with Potato’s Michael Kelpie, Martin Scott and Helen Tumbridge serving as executive producers. The format is distributed internationally by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.

Michael Kelpie, the managing director at Potato, commented: “Bringing four family members together to face the chaser brings a whole new dynamic to the most successful game show currently on TV. They know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, they’ve discussed a strategy beforehand, but of course that can all mean nothing when they go face-to-face against one of the U.K.’s finest quiz brains.”

He added: “The Family Chase compliments both the daytime weekday and celebrity prime-time shows. With even more fun and banter between [host] Bradley [Walsh], chasers and the families, it still delivers all the core values that has made The Chase a firm favorite with the viewers.”
