LONDON: Italy’s NOVE is the first European channel to come on board the NBCUniversal International Formats entertainment show Hidden Singer.

Ballandi Multimedia will produce the six-part Hidden Singer Italia for the Discovery Italia channel. The format, a talent show for imitative singers, has been a hit in Asia, starting on JTBC in Korea and also faring well in Thailand and Vietnam.

Hannah Worrall, VP of format sales at NBCUniversal International Formats, noted, “Hidden Singer is an entertaining and high-tension competition, which has been hugely successful in Asia. Italy’s channel NOVE acts as the perfect destination for our first European remake and we hope that this new twist on the popular musical talent show will attract the attention of networks internationally.”

Aldo Romersa, senior programming director at NOVE, added, “Discovery lands in the world of music for the first time, reinventing the traditional music game show and being innovative and captivating. We are honored to have important Italian artists in six prime time TV events on channel NOVE. It’s a great occasion for fans to party in the studio and fantastic entertainment for the audience at home.”
