Eccho Rights Places Comedy Combat in New Territories

STOCKHOLM: Eccho Rights has sold the entertainment format Comedy Combat in China, Vietnam, Bulgaria and Sweden, while a second season was ordered in Estonia.

Comedy Combat looks on as acting and comic talents use a combination of improv and scripted comedy to compete for laughs and audience approval. The show, which is performed and broadcast live, has been picked up by 3C Media in China and Dong Tay Promotion in Vietnam. Both adaptations are slated for delivery early next year.

Additional options for Comedy Combat, which originally began airing on MTV3 in Finland, have been secured in Bulgaria and Sweden. Earlier this year, a local version of the format premiered on Kanal 2 in Estonia, where a sophomore season is due to debut in October.

“The clever format allows the comedy characters that are developed to resonate in a fantastic way with the sense of humor within a country, making it an almost guaranteed success,” noted Nicola Söderlund, the managing partner at Eccho Rights.
