MediaWorks has revealed that Dancing with the Stars is returning to New Zealand television screens, with a new season set for 2018 on Three.

The show makes its comeback following a three-year hiatus and will be hosted by Dai Henwood and Sharyn Casey. Three resurrected the show in 2015 after its run on TVNZ from 2005 to 2010.

“Today’s announcements are a taste of exciting things to come in 2018,” said chief content officer Andrew Szusterman. “At Three we provide the broadest canvas of content of all the networks, and bringing Dancing with the Stars back with Dai Henwood and Sharyn Casey hosting plays a huge part in doing that next year.”

Henwood remarked: “2018 means that much more to me as I get to co-host the awesome show Dancing with the Stars with Sharyn Casey. We had to host because if we were contestants we would win.”

Casey added: “And if the amazing celebrities and epic dancing isn’t enough excitement for you, wait till you see which of Dai’s 220 bow ties he busts out each week!”

Other shows set for Three in 2018 include The AM Show, back in mid-January; The Project; and 7 Days. There is also the U.S. comedy series 9JKL, which comes to Three in January, as well as the feature-length documentary I Am Heath Ledger. Modern Family also returns to Three in 2018 with all-new episodes. Other highlights include Law & Order: SVU and The Graham Norton Show.
