Comedy Central’s Roast Battle Set for U.K. Treatment

Comedy Central UK has ordered a local version of Roast Battle, with Jimmy Carr on board as host and Russell Brand and Katherine Ryan confirmed as judges.

The 6×30-minute adaptation will look on as famous comedians and up-and-coming talent verbally abuse each other. Each themed episode will see two winners selected by an all-star judging panel. The series, which will be co-produced by Fulwell 73 and Ideasatron, is slated for broadcast next year.

Comedy Central Roast Battle will see the U.K.’s finest comedians go head-to-head in the ultimate battle of wits,” said Louise Holmes, the VP and general manager of Comedy Central UK. “We will pit friend against frenemy, northerners against southerners and, who knows, maybe even husband versus wife! The gloves will be coming off and no subject is off limits if it gives fodder for funny.”
