TOKYO: Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV), creator of the hit Dragons’ Den, is gearing up for MIPTV with three new formats, among them Battle of the Homes, co-developed with Red Arrow Entertainment.

The hour-long game show Battle of the Homes is the first project to result from Nippon TV’s partnership with Red Arrow Entertainment. The format sees two neighboring families compete in challenges inside their homes. Their houses are taken over for 48 hours as the show’s hosts spy on the family members, who must complete challenges such as making their beds blindfolded.

Nippon TV is also presenting the outdoor dating game show Love Liar to international buyers at MIPTV. On the show, a romantically challenged female celebrity goes on dates with two handsome men, but the catch is that only one of them actually likes her. The woman must choose between the two and discover who is being honest and who is the “love liar.”

Another new format from Nippon TV is the fashion competition Celebrity Style. Three female celebrities must shop on a budget to find clothes and accessories to go along with a “selected item” that has been assigned to them. After they have completed their look, the women model their outfit to see who is the best cash-strapped shopper.

“We are happy to see some of our innovative ideas and formats traveling across borders and are confident that these three new titles will resonate well with the buyers,” commented Yukiko Kimishima, the divisional president of international business development. “Among them, we are also delighted to be announcing our newest venture with Red Arrow Entertainment.”
