Banijay Group has inked a deal with ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE) to represent the international format rights for the game show Wanna Bet? outside of German-speaking Europe and the U.S.
Wanna Bet? looks on as normal individuals perform strange, wacky and challenging tasks in front of celebrities, who make wagers about the outcomes. In addition to handling format sales, Banijay Group and its global production business will produce a number of its own international versions.
The latest adaptation of Wanna Bet?, locally titled Vuoi Scommettere, debuts tonight on Mediaset’s Canale 5 in Italy. It is produced by Magnolia.
Ralf Rueckauer, the VP of ZDFE.unscripted, remarked: “Wanna Bet? once stood as the most successful Saturday evening show in Europe, entertaining millions of viewers. The format has been sold around the world and works well in the most diverse territories: in nations close to Germany either geographically or emotionally, such as The Netherlands, Great Britain, Poland and Turkey, as well as in far-away Russia and even China. We are delighted to partner with Banijay Group to build the global footprint of ZDF’s hit format.”
