TEL AVIV: Ahead of the sixth annual Formagination competition, which will be held next week, Armoza Formats has revealed the five finalists, as well as the international jury members.

This year’s finalists are Israeli comedian Miki Geva, sexologist Dr. Shelly Varod, columnist Tomer On, and TV content editors Roy Asis and Itay Butbega. The format ideas cover a range of genres, including game shows, reality shows and social experiments. The winner will receive up to $30,000 of funding and a development deal with Armoza Formats. The second-place winner will be awarded a scholarship to a segment of the Entertainment Master Class, while the audience’s favorite idea will get a pass for MIPCOM 2016.

The Formagination jury will be comprised of international industry representatives such as Nikolaos Kalis, the head of programs at Antenna 1 in Greece; Zivit Dadovich, the VP of content at Channel 10 in Israel; Lucy Chen, the director of international business at Winhall Media in China; and Avi Armoza the CEO of Armoza Formats in Israel. The guest host this year is Odelia Yakir, a past Formagination finalist and creator of the docu-reality format Marry Me Now.

The annual competition was created by Armoza Formats with the intention of bringing Israeli creativity to the international market. This year’s competition saw a record number of submissions, with five format ideas selected to be pitched before an international panel. Formagination will be held next week during the Globes MAD (Marketing, Advertising, Digital Music) convention.

Armoza said: “At Armoza Formats, we believe that good ideas can come from everywhere. It’s exciting to see such a positive response to the competition and to be reaching increasingly more people through this platform that we created to encourage innovation in the industry. We are excited to have such a strong lineup of finalists and we look forward to finding the winning format from amongst them.”

Past submissions, including Marry Me Now and Date in Reverse, have been developed and internationally distributed by Armoza Formats.
