American Idol Reboot Heads to New Zealand

The new season of American Idol has landed on Three in New Zealand following its premiere in the U.S.

Season 16 of American Idol, hosted by series veteran Ryan Seacrest and featuring Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan as judges, will premiere on Three on Tuesday, April 3. It will run Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. American Idol first premiered in 2002 and has been on hiatus since 2016.

American Idol’s relaunch in the U.S. this week has beaten expectations, and we’re confident that New Zealanders will once again find the ‘Idol journey’ as compelling now as they have in the past,” said Andrew Szusterman, the chief content officer at MediaWorks.
