Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPTN) is expanding into the OTT space in Western Europe by rolling out Film1 as a direct-to-consumer subscription service.

Film1 is a destination for premium movies in the Netherlands, and it will now also deliver exclusive, first-run films via a new OTT service, allowing customers to watch more than 300 films on-demand beginning June 21. At launch, the service will offer unlimited, instant access to titles such as Runner 2049, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Baby Driver. It will also provide a live stream of the Film1 Premiere linear channel. Film1’s OTT service will be available on iOS, Android, Macs and PCs.

Kate Marsh, SPTN’s executive VP for Western Europe, International Networks, said, “We’re delighted to be expanding into OTT with the launch of our new Film1 service. We take pride in securing the latest and best film content for our Dutch audience, and this new direct-to-your-screen service complements our partnerships with pay-TV operators and delivers a new way for people to access our top-quality content.”
