STV Productions Appoints Entertainment Development Head


STV Productions has named Nick Johns head of entertainment development, a newly created position at the U.K. company.

Johns was first hired by STV Productions in 2014 and has since worked on ITV2’s SafeWord and ITV Daytime’s Babushka, among other shows. Earlier in his career, he was a freelancer for such channels as ITV and BBC One.

Johns remarked: “I love everything about entertainment and I couldn’t be more excited to be working with the amazing team at STV Productions to bring more big and brilliant ideas to life.”

Gary Chippington, the head of entertainment at STV Productions, added: “Nick has great ideas, great taste and a real feel for entertainment telly. I’m delighted that he’s accepted this new role to help us build on the successes we’ve achieved to date.”

Sky Sports, BT Sport Retain Premier League TV Rights

The U.K. broadcast rights for Premier League games from 2019 to 2022 have been sold for £4.46 billion ($6.2 billion), with BT Sport and Sky Sports splitting five of seven live packages and two are still yet to be awarded.
