Narcos producer Gaumont has established an office in Cologne, Germany, tapping former Warner Bros. exec Sabine de Mardt to lead the new hub.

The office in Cologne is set to open July 1. It will be helmed by de Mardt, former director of fiction and film at Warner Bros. International TV Production Deutschland, who will serve as president. She will report to Christophe Riandee, vice CEO of Gaumont.

“As we have done in the U.S., we are now establishing Gaumont in Germany to produce local content in the local language, and Sabine is a well-respected development, production and creative executive with a highly successful track record who will now lead these efforts,” commented Sidonie Dumas, CEO of Gaumont. “With today’s audiences around the globe now used to watching shows in the original language, we also anticipate strong demand for these programs from our overseas partners.”

“As the world’s oldest film company that still continues to operate as a family held venture, Gaumont is heralded for its countless successes, iconic film library and TV slate,” added de Mardt. “I am very excited to be joining such a great and reputable company. In Germany, Gaumont will continue to invest heavily in the development and production of premiere drama programming, working together with first-class writers, directors, actors and creative executives.”
