VICELAND has added three local series to its Benelux slate, coming just six months after its initial launch in the territory.

The first new original series, Tokyayo, is an alternative travel guide to the unique urban and cultural scene in Tokyo. Starring Dutch rapper Faberyayo and co-hosted by the Dutch artist Steven van Lummel, the three-part series explores everything from the capital’s rising hip-hop scene to the more unusual sides of Japanese culture, featuring unreleased music by the Faberyayo himself.

VICELAND Benelux has also made its first commission, working with local indie outfits WeFilm and the online video platform Dumpert to co-produce Boxing 82, a five-part docuseries that looks at an impoverished boxing club in Rotterdam trying to fight its way back into the Dutch boxing federation.

The channel also made its first acquisition, taking the exclusive rights to the documentary feature Wilders. The 66-minute doc delivers an exclusive look into the life of one of the most controversial individuals in Dutch society, Geert Wilders, the leader of the Netherlands’ anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim and anti-EU Freedom party, as he runs for Dutch Prime Minister.
