Richard Halliwell has been promoted from managing director to CEO of DRG, effective immediately, while current CEO Jeremy Fox transitions into a new executive chairman position.

Halliwell was first hired by DRG in 2013. Earlier in his career, he worked for BBC Worldwide as commercial director for entertainment formats. During his time at DRG, he has helped expand and diversify the company while restructuring the business to maximize future growth potential, refocusing the sales team and appointing Elin Thomas as DRG’s first executive VP of sales.

In addition, Adam Barth has been upped to VP of sales for EMEA at DRG.

As executive chairman, Fox will mostly concentrate on scripted opportunities for the business, as well as his new venture, Atrium TV. He remarked: “Richard is very entrepreneurial and commercial, he gets things done and succeeds in managing everyday issues while constantly driving the business forward with new ideas. DRG is in very safe hands with him at the helm and I am delighted that we have been able to recognize his significant achievements and contributions with this promotion. With developments such as the recently announced partnership with Wildseed, Richard is breaking new ground for DRG—as well as distributors in general—and I am excited to keep working alongside him as he creates further interesting opportunities for our expanding business.”

Halliwell stated: “With the support of Jeremy and MTG, plus the ongoing commitment of the DRG team, we have long been able to punch above our weight in the marketplace. In my new role I will continue to push the boundaries to ensure we retain that reputation, and explore new opportunities for developing, creating and monetizing content in order to grow our business—and that of our partners—still further.”

Halliwell added: “It gives me great pleasure to announce that Adam Barth has been promoted from sales manager to VP of sales for the EMEA region. In addition to being very knowledgeable across a range of territories and extremely good at selling our content, Adam is very popular with his colleagues and clients and just a great person to have on the team. He will be responsible for managing key territories, as well as other team members who look after countries in the region, and he will also be handling some of our biggest pan-territory relationships, including HBO and Discovery.”
