Double-Digit Revenue Gains at ProSiebenSat.1

ProSiebenSat.1 Group has started 2017 with revenue growth of 13 percent to €910 million ($989 million).

Adjusted EBITDA grew by 10 percent to €188 million ($204 million) in the first quarter of 2017, while adjusted net income rose by 10 percent to €88 million ($96 million).

Thomas Ebeling, the CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media, said: “We’ve started well into 2017. The most important growth driver is our commerce portfolio, which has accelerated our revenue growth and sustainably strengthened the earnings base of the Group. Today, we are already generating a significant share of our revenues with new and digital business models. We are well on track to achieve our revenue and profitability targets for 2018.”

External revenues in the broadcasting German-speaking segment increased by 2 percent to €502 million ($546 million), driven by increased distribution revenues. TV advertising revenues were stable. Adjusted EBITDA increased by 4 percent to €137 million ($149 million).

In the digital entertainment segment, the online video business was a key revenue driver. External revenues increased by 2 percent overall to €97 million ($105 million). Adjusted EBITDA decreased to a loss of €2 million ($2.2). Revenues grew organically by 12 percent in this segment.

External revenues in the digital ventures and commerce segment totaled €229 million ($249 million), up 53 percent. Adjusted EBITDA increased by 26 percent in total to €47 million ($521 million).

In the content production and global sales segment, external revenues grew by 24 percent to €78 million ($85 million). Adjusted EBITDA nearly doubled, rising by 88 percent to €9 million ($9.8 million). Revenue growth in the segment was largely organic in the first quarter of 2017, with both the global sales business and production companies in the U.S. performing well.
