LONDON: A new partnership between Channel 5 and Google sees the video-on-demand service My5 become available on the Chromecast media streaming device.

Starting today, viewers will be able to watch My5 content, including a range of My5 exclusives and box sets in addition to programs from across the Channel 5 family, by plugging in the Chromecast device to their TV’s HDMI port. My5 features Channel 5’s most popular catch–up content, including Celebrity Big Brother, The Yorkshire VetGotham, Lip Sync Battle UK, GPs: Behind Closed Doors and The X-Files.

“Today’s announcement builds on My5’s position as the most widely distributed commercial broadcaster VOD service in the U.K.,” commented James Tatam, the director of digital media and commercial development for Channel 5. “Chromecast is a fantastic device and by utilizing this technology to broaden out My5’s reach and availability, we’re giving our viewers even more choice and flexibility when it comes to their favorite content.”

Edward Kenney, the head of Chromecast partnerships for the U.K. at Google, said: “Channel 5 has built a great VOD offering, and with Google Chromecast, viewers can stream everything they love from My5 to the big screen, directly from their phone or tablet. Users will be delighted with the addition of My5 to the broad list of services already available on Chromecast.”
