PARIS: Vincent Bolloré, the chairman of Vivendi, has upped his shareholding in the French conglomerate.

Bolloré Group now owns more than 20 percent of the share capital and voting rights in Vivendi. By April 20, 2017, Bolloré will control around 29 percent of voting rights.

In a statement the organization said, “These operations reflect the confidence the Bolloré Group has in Vivendi’s potential for development and its willingness to remain as reference shareholder of the company in the long term.”

Bolloré has been chairman since 2014 and has been stepping up expansion plans at Vivendi, which has since bet big on gaming with Gameloft and Ubisoft and taken a stake in Telecom Italia. Read more about Vivendi’s strategy in our interview with CEO Arnaud de Puyfontaine here.
