AMSTERDAM/MADRID: CBS Studios International and Movistar+ have closed an exclusive licensing agreement in Spain for the linear and SVOD rights to all future Showtime-owned series, as well as current Showtime-owned hits and select library titles.

Movistar+ becomes the official home of Showtime programming in Spain, with exclusive use of the Showtime brand and trademark in the territory. The agreement will kick off with the Showtime drama Billions, which premieres in November on Movistar Series channel.

In addition to the Showtime programming, the deal will also include linear and SVOD rights to current CBS series such as Madam Secretary and The Odd Couple, along with library series of the original Twin Peaks, Deadwood and Lucky Dog.

Pedro García Guillén, the CEO of Movistar+, said: “At Movistar+ we always search for the best content and brands to add value to our service. For the last few years, Showtime series were part of our service, but that was only the beginning. Now, we are able to build on our existing Showtime programming with future Showtime-owned series. We are very proud to have closed such an important deal with a brand that has proven its ability to create shows of enormous value and appeal to our Movistar Series clients.”

“Showtime is quickly becoming one of the most prestigious content brands in the global marketplace,” said Armando Nuñez, the president and CEO of CBS Studios International. “We’re excited to further expand the reach of Showtime with another branded programming agreement of this scale and with a best-in-class partner such as Movistar+.”
