LONDON: Starting this September, U.K. viewers will be required to pay the license fee in order to watch catch-up programming on the BBC iPlayer.

Previously, the BBC’s streaming service had only required users to pay the full license fee if they were watching live broadcasts, but not for catch-up TV. As of September 1, catch-ups, downloads and live broadcasts on the iPlayer will only be available to those paying the £145.50 annual fee.

According to the BBC, fewer than 2 percent of households will be affected by the change.
