Free-to-Air RTL Plus to Go Live in June

LUXEMBOURG: Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland will be launching a new, free-to-air channel on June 4 called RTL Plus.

RTL Plus will offer a mix of popular classics and its exclusive own productions. RTL Plus’s prime-time offering will differ every day, with shows such as Bauer sucht Frau (The Farmer Wants a Wife), Dr. Stefan Frank, Hinter Gittern: Der Frauenknast (Behind Bars: The Women’s Prison), Einsatz in 4 Wänden (Home DIY Challenge), Doppelter Einsatz (Double Deployment), Monk and Nikola. 

The daytime viewing will include documentary formats like Mein Baby (My Baby) and Unsere erste gemeinsame Wohnung (Our First Shared Flat), as well as the justice shows Das Jugendgericht (Juvenile Court), Das Strafgericht (Criminal Court) and Das Familiengericht (Family Court). The channel’s exclusive own productions will be new episodes of the game shows Familienduell (Family Duel) and Jeopardy, which are already in the making and will feature in RTL Plus’s program schedule starting from the fall.

The new channel will be led by Jan Peter Lacher, who will fulfill this role as well as his duties as senior VP of program planning at RTL Television. In both these jobs he will report to RTL’s television program managing director, Frank Hoffmann.
