ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE) has taken on global distribution for the Franco-German crime thriller The Crimson Rivers.

Co-produced by ZDF and France 2, The Crimson Rivers features Inspector Niémans (Olivier Marchal) and his colleague Camille Delauney (Erika Sainte), who are investigating four separate cases that lead them to various French provinces and to Germany. Each case entails a murder mystery that demands the involvement of the Parisian specialists.

Starring Marchal, Sainte, Ken Duken and Nora Waldstätten, the first episode of the series, entitled “The Final Chase” (“Die letzte Jagd”), will be directed by Ivan Fegyveres. Each of the episodes is based on the original screenplay by cult writer Jean-Christophe Grangé.

The series will be co-produced by France’s EuropaCorp Television together with the German company maze pictures.
