MAINZ: ZDF Enterprises’s drama Ku’damm 56: Rebel with a Cause, which screened for the first time as part of the MIPDrama Screenings at MIPTV 2016, has drummed up interest from buyers across the globe.

Ku’damm 56: Rebel with a Cause was one of 12 drama series screened to 350 international buyers and press at the inaugural MIPDrama Screenings, and broadcasters from the U.S. and Denmark were among the first to snap up the three-parter. ZDF Enterprises is currently negotiating with potential buyers from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Great Britain, France, the Benelux countries and Slovakia. Additional markets that have shown interest are Eastern and Western Europe and Latin America.

“We’re pleased with the stupendous interest that our program Ku’damm 56: Rebel with a Cause has triggered,” said Fred Burcksen, the executive VP and COO of ZDF Enterprises. “We can look back with satisfaction to MIPTV 2016, and we will continue to serve the unbroken international demand for high-end drama productions such as Ku’damm 56: Rebel with a Cause, The Team, Blochin and many others.”

Format rights for the project are also in demand. “The interest of a major European station in the remake rights hints at great things to come for this wonderfully adaptable format,” Burcksen added.
