Viasat World has licensed a 50-plus hour programming package from all3media international for its brand-new flagship content brand Epic Drama.

The new channel and SVOD propositions, which launch on December 14 in Viasat World’s key territories, will be home to a range of dramas from the all3media portfolio. This includes The Miniaturist, an adaptation of Jessie Burton’s internationally best-selling novel; Close to the Enemy, set in a bomb-damaged London hotel in the aftermath of WWII; and seasons one and two of The Village, an epic family saga set in the rolling hills of the Peak District in England’s Derbyshire.

Karin Heijink, the VP of content and product at Viasat World, commented: “We are delighted to expand our partnership with all3media and make Epic Drama the exclusive home of these compelling, must-see drama series in some of our international markets. Expert content curators, we are resolute in our mission to secure the rights to the very best quality drama series to fulfill our lavish channel proposition, and these titles are the perfect fit. We are off to a great start with this deal and it’s just the beginning as we lock down our world-class programming slate ready for launch.”

Ben Packwood, sales manager at all3media international, added: “We are thrilled to be a key part of Viasat World’s launch slate for Epic Drama. These wonderful period dramas will be a great addition to the new content brand’s top-quality lineup of programming, transporting the audience into another time and place as tales are told and portrayed by award-winning casts and production teams. We look forward to working alongside Viasat World as Epic Drama goes from strength to strength, making it the exclusive home of some of our key drama properties.”
