MIAMI: The Spanish-language U.S. network Pasiones has licensed the rights for the Turkish series Medcezir, based on the American original The O.C.

Medcezir made its U.S. debut on February 6 at 7 p.m. and will run Mondays through Fridays. The series tells the story of a smart but troubled teen who is taken in from the streets by an affluent lawyer and his wife. He immediately bonds with their nerdy son, who strives to win the heart of his lifelong crush. Acquired from Warner Bros. International Television, the drama features a cast of Turkish stars that includes Çağatay Ulusoy, Serenay Sarıkaya and Barış Falay, among others.

“Good story lines transcend borders,” said Francisco Gimenez, the general manager of cable networks for Hemisphere Media Group, Pasiones’ parent company. “Turkish novelas have gained a wide following among Latin American telenovela watchers, reinforcing the growing demand for fresh novela content from across the globe. We are excited to bring our viewers another Turkish hit with the exclusive U.S. premiere of Medcezir.”
