The 12-part crime thriller Besa, from Tony Jordan (EastEnders, Life on Mars, Dickensian), has assembled a team of international talent from Serbia, Kosovo, Croatia, Slovenia and France.

Currently in production across Southeastern Europe, Besa is directed by Dusan Lazarevic (Misfits, Death in Paradise, Silent Witness). The cast includes Arben Bajraktaraj (Taken, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), Rasa Bukvic (A Good Day to Die Hard, Le Transporteur: Héritage, Taken), Milos Timotijevic (Chernobyl Diaries, Humidity, In the Land of Blood and Honey), Lana Baric (You Carry Me, Hush, Lucky Accident Crash) and Sebastian Cavazza (Ederlezi Rising, Short Circuits, Breakages).

Tatjana Pavlovic, head of international distribution at the Antenna Group, said: “There is much interest from international buyers for Besa and we have great hopes for its international success. We are very proud that this is the first time talent from across southeastern Europe has been brought together to make a compelling crime series drama, and hopefully set the trend for more multicultural productions from our region.”

Pete Smith, director of Antenna Group, added: “Besa breaks in new ground in many ways; Tony Jordan from the U.K. executive produces the series as well as overseeing the team of local writers and I am particularly proud we have gathered together outstanding talent from across southeast Europe, both cast and crew, who have all worked internationally, making this a first for the region.”
