LONDON: STUDIOCANAL is gearing up for MIPTV with a new slate of prime-time dramas to deliver for international buyers, including Ride Upon the Storm.

Selected to be featured at the exclusive MIPDrama Screenings, Ride Upon the Storm is the new series from Borgen creator and BAFTA winner Adam Price. The drama is produced by Denmark’s DR Drama in co-production with ARTE France and SAM le Français. It is produced by Camilla Hammerich (Borgen) and stars Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards).

The eight-part crime thriller Below the Surface will be showcased to the international market following its recent world premiere as part of the Berlinale Special Series. It is produced by SAM Productions for Kanal 5/Discovery Networks Denmark and co-produced with Germany’s ZDFneo. Kasper Barfoed is creator, head writer and concept director for the drama, alongside Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl, who serves as producer. SAM Productions’ Søren Sveistrup (The Killing), Price (Borgen) and Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen (A Royal Affair) and ZDF editors Frank Seyberth and Wolfgang Feindt serve as executive producers.

Something’s Rockin’ was created by Søren Frellesen and Jesper Malmose from an original idea by Price and Malmose. The new ten-part drama series is produced by SAM Productions for TV 2 Denmark, co-produced by Sweden’s TV 4. The show is inspired by real events and tells the fascinating story of the birth, rise and fall of Radio Mercur, a pirate radio station founded by a small group of music-loving dreamers in the late 1950s.

From the U.K.’s RED Production Company for BBC One is Trust Me, a four-part, character-led drama written by Dan Sefton (Mr Selfridge, The Five) and executive produced by Nicola Shindler. Set in Edinburgh, Trust Me tells the story of Cath (Jodie Whittaker, Broadchurch), a hardworking and skilled nurse who loses her job for whistleblowing.

Combining universal themes of a complex mystery, murder and secret love, The Teach is the very first original production for CANAL+ Poland (NC+). The crime thriller is set in the beautiful Polish woodlands of Dobrowice.

From renowned Italian director Carmine Elia (Il Sistema) comes La Porta Rossa, a 12-part crime thriller for RAI 2 with a supernatural twist. It stars Lino Guanciale (L’allieva), Gabriella Pession (Crossing Lines) and Valentina Romani (Un bacio).

Katrina Neylon, the executive VP of international sales and marketing at STUDIOCANAL, commented, “We’re very pleased to present such a diverse slate of innovative and original international co-productions at MIPTV. Our continued work with STUDIOCANAL’s leading production partners and our strong relationships with third-party producers is ensuring a continual supply of engaging, internationally-relevant drama featuring some of the world’s best talent both on- and off-screen. Alongside tape sales, we will also be discussing scripted format adaptation rights for The Teach and La Porta Rossa, which we believe have great potential to be adapted for local territories, offering an opportunity to develop a truly unique channel-defining prime-time drama.”
