The drama series McMafia, set in the world of organized crime, has been sold to Russian free-to-air channel Friday.

Created by Hossein Amini and James Watkins, McMafia is inspired by the bestselling nonfiction book by Misha Glenny. The BBC Studios drama made its premiere on BBC One in the U.K. and AMC in the U.S., and is available on Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

The deal with BBC Studios also sees Friday secure the rights to become the new TV home of the Sherlock franchise in Russia. The channel has acquired a number of BBC natural-history titles as well, including Planet Earth, Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II, in addition to the BBC science titles Earth from Space and The Planets.
