LOS ANGELES: Roma Downey and LightWorkers Media (LWM) have licensed the rights for Karen Kingsbury’s The Baxter Family novel series for television.

The 22-book series has sold more than 20 million copies globally. It tells the story of how John and Elizabeth Baxter, and their six adult children, come together over love, loss, laughter and life to prove the strength of faith and family.

“Working with Roma Downey to see the Baxter Family become a TV series is the most exciting thing to happen in my entire career,” said Kingsbury. “I couldn’t be more thrilled. Roma’s heart is engaged in this project because she is a reader. In her capable and talented hands, we all believe the Baxter Family will become a longstanding beloved series that will run for many years to come. My 25 million readers have been begging to see the Baxter family on TV, and now their dreams will come true.”

“At LightWorkers, we are always looking for uplifting projects and because I am such a fan of the series, it makes so much sense to bring our two brands together,” said Downey, the president of LightWorkers Media. “In partnership with Karen, we want to bring this beloved family drama to the small screen so families can enjoy it together.”

LightWorkers Media is a faith and family division of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM).
