Production has begun on season four of the Space original series Killjoys, which will see its final 20 episodes.

The series follows a trio of interplanetary bounty hunters: rebel leader Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen), tech-savvy John Jaqobis (Aaron Ashmore) and tactical D’avin Jaqobis (Luke MacFarlane). Creator Michelle Lovretta (Lost Girl, The Secret Circle), who has served as showrunner for all three seasons, will continue executive producer and writing duties for the remaining 20 episodes.

Adam Barken (X Company, Bruno and Boots), who has been a writer and producer on the series since season one, is promoted to executive producer and showrunner. Killjoys is produced by Temple Street, a division of Boat Rocker Studios, in association with Space and SYFY. Universal Cable Productions (UCP) distributes the series worldwide with the exception of Canada.

“We are thrilled to have 20 episodes to complete the epic story of Killjoys,” said David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, executive producers of Killjoys and co-presidents of Boat Rocker Studios. “Michelle created a unique show that set a new standard for being both fun and empowering, and we are excited to see Adam taking the reins. We are so proud of the cast and crew and are extremely thankful to our partners at Space, SYFY and UCP for their continued support, as well as dedicated fans who make it all worthwhile.”

“Adam has been my dear friend and secret weapon for three wonderful seasons,” said Lovretta. “I’m thrilled we’re increasing his role as we finish our Killjoys journey in the Quad.”

“After starting on this adventure four years ago with the incomparable Michelle Lovretta, it’s such an honor to be given this opportunity by Boat Rocker to finish the series the way our Killjoys teams would want it—loud, proud and together,” said Barken.
