Production Commences on Motherland Pilot

Principal photography has begun on the pilot for Motherland, a one-hour drama about witches enlisted to fight for the country, for Freeform.

The pilot is exec produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick and was created by Eliot Laurence (Claws). It is set in an alternate America where witches cut a deal with the government to avoid persecution, pledging to fight for the country. It focuses on three women as they go from basic training in combat magic to early deployment at Fort Salem.

The cast includes Taylor Hickson, Kelcey Mawema, Jessica Sutton, Amalia Holm and Demetria McKinney. The pilot hails from Freeform Studios and Gary Sanchez Productions.
