LOS ANGELES: Miramax has secured the worldwide sales rights, excluding Japan, for the miniseries Crow’s Blood, created by Japanese producer Yasushi Akimoto.

The six-part horror/suspense series counts among its executive producers Darren Lynn Bousman, the director of the Saw film franchise. The series was produced by Sean E. DeMott for Execution Style Entertainment, along with producers Hiroki Iwasaki for HJ Holdings and Yushi Ito for Nippon Television AX-ON with additional writing by Clint Sears.

Crow’s Blood, which tackles the topic of cloning, is set in modern Japanese society. The story begins after a mysterious transfer student, played by Miyawaki, arrives at an all-girls’ high school and strange events occur that upend the lives of other students, including Watanabe’s sweet-spirited character.
