STOCKHOLM/MADRID: Eccho Rights is now handling worldwide distribution for La Casa Del Mar, one of the four finalists in the drama category for this year’s International Emmy Awards.

The drama series is produced by DIRECTV Latin America’s OnDIRECTV, in association with Storylab and Cisne Films. The first four-part season that aired in Latin America was immediately recommissioned for a further eight episodes the same year.

La Casa Del Mar is such an amazing show and this Emmy nomination only confirms what we already knew; that we have a brilliant series on our hands, and we can’t wait to get it into the schedules of broadcasters around the world,” said Barbora Susterova, the head of Latin America at Eccho Rights.

OnDIRECTV’s general manager, Willard Tressel, said: “It’s with great joy and sadness that I greeted the news of La Casa Del Mar’s nomination. Joy because the series is fantastic and that season two even takes the story to another level. Sadness because Juan Laplace, the series creator, tragically died shortly after wrapping the series.”

He added, “The nomination shows us that Juan’s creative vision lives on and that—with our MIPCOM announcement that Eccho Rights will be distributing the series—television viewers will be able to enjoy all 12 episodes throughout the world.”
