Sonar Entertainment is highlighting the 8×1-hour WWII drama Das Boot, inspired by the novel and 1981 film.

The series is “expanded to tell the heroic and human stories of men and women on land and sea in 1942 German-occupied France,” explains David Ellender, the company’s president of global distribution and co-productions. English, German and French languages are used throughout the co-production, which comes from Sonar, Bavaria Fiction and Sky Deutschland. “Das Boot is a template for how to optimize the potential of a high-end international co-production both from a business and creative perspective,” he adds.

“The L.A. Screenings is an important step in unveiling this series for the first time to program buyers from around the world,” says Ellender. “Since the initial announcement of the project some 15 months ago, there has consistently been strong interest from the international TV community. We are extremely confident that the finished product will exceed buyers’ expectations.”
