Kudos has acquired the television rights to Through the Fire, an upcoming memoir from Dr Sabrina Cohen-Hatton, the deputy assistant commissioner for the London Fire Brigade.

A drama series based on the book is now in development. The memoir, from Transworld, is not set to hit shelves until the spring of 2019. It follows Cohen-Hatton’s rise through the ranks, from becoming a firefighter at 18 to being named deputy assistant commissioner at the age of 31, and taps into her experience in crisis management.

Emma Kingsman-Lloyd at Kudos said, “At a time when the female workplace experience is under ever closer scrutiny, we are thrilled to be able to bring Sabrina’s remarkable book to the screen. She’s not only a remarkable woman, she’s a natural storyteller and her personal experiences as a front-line professional and her revolutionary insights into the psychology of decision-making in extreme situations make this title a truly extraordinary, exciting and unique examination of the firefighting profession.”

The drama will be executive produced by Kingsman-Lloyd and Diederick Santer.
