LNK Lithuania has picked up the Star India drama Strange Love (Iss Pyaar Ko kya Naam Doon), which will launch in the country on July 10.

Strange Love is the third Indian drama series to be aired on the LNK TV group channels, following on Soul Mates (Diya Aur Bhati Hum) and Saras and Kumud. The Lithuanian broadcaster is working with Intellecta, a long-term syndication partner of Star India for Europe, the Baltics, Russia and Turkey.

Strange Love was also the first Indian drama series to be shown in Turkey, on Kanal 7, where it quadrupled the ratings and the share in its slot.

“We are very happy that LNK has decided to show its viewers Strange Love,” said Christina Vlahova, the CEO of Intellecta. “This is probably the most successful Indian drama series internationally. We have opened a number of international markets with it and everywhere viewers love it and the ratings prove it.”

“We were looking for more modern, not so much traditional content,” added Jolanta Jasiene, the deputy program director of LNK.  “And Strange Love is exactly the series that we were looking for. It is about the same eternal theme of love, but told with a modern twist. Lithuanian audiences love to watch Indian series because of the perfect simplicity, the open-heartedness that has very strong emotional power, and because of the exceptional visual beauty—the bright colors that we, being part of Northern Europe, miss a lot.”
