Two separate deals have been signed by STUDIOCANAL that will see Harlan Coben’s original drama The Five airing on both pay TV and free TV in Germany.

Pay-TV rights were licensed to ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland, while the free-TV rights went to ZDF. The ten-part thriller, from RED Production Company originally for the U.K.’s Sky 1, will debut to viewers across Germany later this year.

Katrina Neylon, the executive VP of sales and marketing at STUDIOCANAL, commented, “We’re delighted to see the success of The Five continue with these acquisitions in Germany. Harlan’s first television project has proved to be such a stand-out success around the world, with international broadcasters quick to recognize The Five’s potential to appeal to a wide audience demographic and its proven ability to keep viewers hooked across the entire series.”

Kalle Friz, the CEO of STUDIOCANAL Germany, added, “Harlan Coben is an absolute expert in creating complex, intelligent and captivating thrillers and I’m very pleased to see The Five making its debut in Germany on both pay-TV and free-TV services. I’d like to thank Barbara Knabe, the executive VP of television and digital distribution, and Sebastian Miska, the senior sales manager for TV/digital series acquisition, for their great work with both ProSiebenSat.1 and ZDF in bringing this excellent drama to German viewers.”
