Banijay Rights has sold the new bilingual drama Bang to SVT Sweden.

Created in both the Welsh and English languages, Bang premiered on S4C earlier this month. The 8×1-hour crime drama is produced by Joio and Artists Studio for S4C. The series, set in the steel town of Port Talbot, tells the story of a brother, a sister and a gun. Loner Sam has his life transformed when he comes into possession of a gun and starts to break the law. His ambitious policewoman sister Gina is paid to uphold it and makes it her mission to find the owner of the weapon. The series was penned by BAFTA Award-winning writer Roger Williams.

Banijay Rights will launch a number of new dramas at MIPCOM, including The Restaurant, produced by Banijay’s Jarowskij, in collaboration with SVT, Viaplay and Film i Väst. Juda is a thriller series produced by United Studios of Israel for HOT. Resolve is a TV movie produced by Banijay’s Screentime NZ, based on a true story in which one brave man takes a stand against gang intimidation, and pays a terrible price.

Caroline Torrance, the head of scripted at Banijay Rights, commented, “We are very proud of our fiction lineup for MIPCOM—it is extremely diverse and holds wide appeal for our international clients and their audiences. The common denominators are good storytelling, of course, and high-quality production values throughout. We have had the pleasure to work with many of the world’s leading talent both in front of and behind the camera and this is illustrated by the extraordinary drama we will present in Cannes.”
