PALO ALTO: Director Doug Liman (Live, Die, Repeat; Bourne Identity) is working with Condé Nast Entertainment and Jaunt on Invisible, a scripted action-adventure series that will feature virtual reality.

This is the latest project in Jaunt and Condé Nast Entertainment’s collaboration in serialized storytelling, and the first from Liman. The six-episode series is set in modern-day Manhattan and features a prominent New York City family blessed with a supernatural gift passed down through generations. Each chapter of the series will be available via the Jaunt VR app on Google Play, iTunes and GearVR.

Also working on the project is 30 Ninjas, a digital entertainment company founded by Liman and Julina Tatlock.

“Exceptional content is at the core of our business, and we’re always looking for innovative ways to engage audiences,” said Dawn Ostroff, the president of Condé Nast Entertainment. “Virtual reality offers us a tremendous opportunity to push the boundaries of our storytelling, and provide audiences a fully-immersive viewing experience. We’re thrilled to work with Jaunt and Doug Liman on Invisible, I can’t think of better partners to have as we embark on this exciting and cutting-edge journey.”

“We’ve assembled a great team with Melisa Wallack as writer and creator, and the best VR producing partners in the business—Jaunt VR, CNÉ and Samsung. This is a true confluence of creative and technical,” said Tatlock, the founder and CEO of 30 Ninjas. “Throughout this entire project, from development to the shoot, the technical and the creative teams have worked hand-in-glove. What can we write for VR? What tells the best story and how can we push the technology so that we break people’s expectations? Everyone else is concerned with defining the rules of VR. We’re fascinated with the invention.”

“Doug Liman is a visionary Hollywood filmmaker and his decision to undertake this project in VR is a testament not only to the validity of the medium, but also to his fearless pioneering spirit,” said Cliff Plumer, the president of Jaunt Studios. “Episodic series such as Invisible are the future of mainstream VR content and will make waves attracting ever growing audiences. This partnership also ensures that Jaunt will continue to remain at the forefront of premium VR content production and distribution.”
