Coen Brothers Doing a Western Anthology for Netflix

Academy Award winners Joel and Ethan Coen are writing and directing a new Western anthology that will be a Netflix original.

Titled The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, the series is slated for delivery in 2018 for Netflix members around the world. Annapurna Television is producing. The Western anthology will feature six tales about the American frontier, told through the voice of the Coen brothers (Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, True Grit and Inside Llewyn Davis). Each chapter will feature a distinct story about the American West. Tim Blake Nelson is attached to star as Buster, with further casting details to come.

“We are streaming motherfuckers!,” said Joel and Ethan Coen.

Cindy Holland, the VP of original content for Netflix, added: “The Coens are visionary directors, masterful storytellers and colorful linguists. We are thrilled for Netflix to become home to the full range of their talents.”
