Waleed Zuaiter (Omar, Altered Carbon), Bertie Carvel (Dr Foster, Jonathan Strange and Dr Norrell), Clara Khoury (Homeland), Leem Lubany (Omar, Condor), Neil Maskell (Humans, Utopia) and Corey Stoll (House of Cards, First Man) join the international cast of Channel 4’s new six-part crime series Baghdad Central.

Production has begun in Morocco on the thriller, which is written and created by Stephen Butchard (The Last Kingdom, House of Saddam) based on the novel by Elliott Colla. The series is set in 2003, when Baghdad has been occupied by American forces for six months; but the disbandment of the Iraqi army, the police and civil leadership in the aftermath of the invasion means there is no one in charge and no effective rule of law.

The series is produced by Euston Films and sold by FremantleMedia International.
