LONDON: Carnival Films, producer of such hit dramas as Downton Abbey, has appointed Joanna Strevens as its new head of development.

Strevens previously served as the head of development at Kudos Film & Television. She was story producer for The Tunnel: Sabotage, developing it from the initial premise into an eight-part series. Strevens also served as the head of drama development for Hat Trick Productions. Now, at Carnival, she will be responsible for overseeing the company’s development activity, a role that sees her reporting to Managing Director Gareth Neame.

Neame commented: “Jo is a highly talented executive and I’m delighted that she’s joining the team. Her extensive experience of bringing high-end drama slates to fruition, as well as the relationships she has built with broadcasters, writers and directors, will prove essential in helping us take Carnival to the next level.”

Strevens added: “I’m extremely excited to be joining such a remarkable team at Carnival, who have a very well-deserved reputation for producing internationally renowned scripted series.”
