LONDON: The drama Ordinary Lies has been commissioned for a second season by BBC One, with RED Production Company signed on to produce six new hour-long episodes.

The first season scored an average consolidated audience of more than 6 million viewers. The show is created by Danny Brocklehurst. The second chapter will explore the lives and loves of a new workforce: a national sports goods company.

Brocklehurst said: “The audience response to the first season of Ordinary Lies was truly overwhelming so I'm delighted that we can bring it back for a second season. We were incredibly lucky with a stellar cast for season one—all of whom gave gripping performances which not only translated into great ratings but also critical acclaim. The second season will explore the clandestine lives of a new group of colleagues whose 9 to 5 personas belie a much darker personal life.”

Executive Producer Nicola Shindler added: “I am thrilled that the BBC has commissioned a second season of Ordinary Lies following the great ratings and performances from the hugely talented ensemble cast. To maintain the drama, suspense and intrigue for viewers, the second season will introduce a new array of characters, each harboring their own secret.”

Polly Hill, the controller of BBC drama commissioning, said: “Danny's brilliant scripts really do make the ordinary lives of our characters become extraordinary. His warm, funny and clever stories will once again make gripping viewing for our BBC One audience.”
