Astro has aligned with Thailand-based producer Five Star Production for its first original series, 3 A.M. Bangkok Ghost Stories.

From the original producer of the film franchise of the same name, 3 A.M. Bangkok Ghost Stories is a 13-episode series, with a movie to come later in 2018. The horror-themed show, which features supernatural occurrences that all take place at 3 o’clock in the morning, is slated to premiere on October 28 on the channel BOO.

3 A.M. Bangkok Ghost Stories will showcase the work of Kiatkamon Iamphungporn, who first produced the hit 3 A.M. movie in 2012 and a sequel in 2014—both of which achieved cult status among horror fans.

Henry Tan, the COO of Astro, said, “We are creating premium content with regional appeal and have been fortunate enough to attract the best or and like-minded partners such as Five Star Production from Thailand to create compelling Asian original series and movies of higher production values that resonate with our Asian audience. One year after the anniversary of the launch of BOO, we are even more firmly convinced of the appeal of stories that echo ASEAN supernatural folklore and experiences.”

Tan continued, “We are committed to developing high-quality Asian IPs and premium Nusantara series via collaborations with renowned directors, writers and production studios. Future projects include the next horror original, Doors, a Philippines horror anthology, with the award-winning producer Bianca Balbuena; and from Indonesia, an intense, first-of-its-kind action series, Do[s]a, a collaboration with award-winning talents Ifa Isfansyah and Salman Aristo and a star-studded Malaysian-Indonesian cast.”
