USA Network has renewed the Universal Cable Productions (UCP) drama Falling Water for a second season that is slated to premiere later this year, with Rémi Aubuchon (Falling Skies, 24, The Lyon’s Den) coming on board as showrunner.

The sophomore season of Falling Water follows three unrelated people whose worlds collide when they discover newfound abilities to manipulate dreams and, by extension, the dreamers themselves. They must determine how to use their gifts after realizing that the fate of the world rests in their hands.

Falling Water comes from executive producers Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead) of Valhalla Entertainment, Blake Masters (Brotherhood), the late Henry Bromell (Homeland) and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later). The series stars David Ajala (Fast & Furious 6), Will Yun Lee (Hawaii Five-0) and Lizzie Brochere (American Horror Story: Asylum).

Falling Water turns the traditional dramatic thriller on its head by tapping into the power of something we all have access to: dreams,” said Chris McCumber, the president of Entertainment Networks at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “We look forward to continuing this bold, completely unique story.”

“With its striking visuals and stylized narrative, Falling Water creates a world where dreams have a dramatic impact on reality,” commented Jeff Wachtel, the president and chief content officer at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “Gale and Blake executed a thought-provoking and resonant first season. We’re delighted to welcome Rémi to the creative team, and we can’t wait to see where he takes us next.”
