SEATTLE: Amazon has greenlit a third season of its original drama The Man in the High Castle, which will be helmed by Eric Overmyer as showrunner and executive producer in its new run.

Overmyer’s writing and producing credits include St. Elsewhere, The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, Homicide: Life on the Street, Law & Order, The Wire, New Amsterdam and Treme, which he created with David Simon. He was also part of the team that adapted the Amazon original series Bosch for television.

Season two of The Man in the High Castle premiered with the most viewers over its debut weekend of all scripted Amazon original series. Both seasons are currently available on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Austria.

“As timely as ever, the exploration of characters at a dark point for humanity has provided incredible stories for two seasons,” said Joe Lewis, the head of comedy and drama at Amazon Studios. “Eric and his team are doing an incredible job crafting stories about the inner lives of those who struggle to do good in a world that is not. We couldn’t be more excited to bring season three to customers in 2017.”
