TORONTO: Breakthrough Entertainment has elevated Owen Kelly, who joined the company’s business affairs team last year, to international sales and acquisitions exec for feature films.

In his new position, Kelly will oversee the global sales and acquisitions of feature films. He will help to expand the studio’s library of titles, as well as further the reach of high-quality content developed under the Breakthrough banner. He will work out of Toronto under Nat Abraham, the company’s partner and president of distribution.

Kelly began his career in feature-film sales at Cinema Vault Releasing. He later worked for Global Incentives, where he handled Canadian and U.S. tax credits for such movies as Zero Dark Thirty, The Host and Riddick.

“We are thrilled to be able to announce Owen as our new sales and acquisition executive,” said Abraham. “His background in business affairs gives him a unique perspective into financing structures for our productions and his sales background will perfectly compliment our current sales team.”

“I’m incredibly honored to be given this position within Breakthrough, as I have grown close to the team over the past couple of years,” added Kelly. “I am a big admirer of all the great content that Breakthrough both attracts and produces, and I am excited to be a part of the team that can build on that.”
