Star World Commissions Michael Bolton-Led Music Series

The brand-new entertainment reality show Bolt of Talent, featuring American singer-songwriter and pop-culture icon Michael Bolton, is launching on FOX Networks Group’s Star World.

Bolt of Talent is an original series that follows the search for undiscovered talented singers across Asia. Under the guidance of Bolton, contestants will go head-to-head to win the life-changing Grand Prize of a record deal and world tour with Bolton. The seven-part series is an original production that will air exclusively on Star World.

Over seven weeks, the talent contest will travel to four major cities: Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Manila and Bangkok. Bolton will choose four finalists to reinvent, rearrange and re-create a range of his hits. One local superstar from each city will choose the winner along with Bolton. The series is created by IFA Media.

Dean Dezius, the VP of entertainment channels at FOX Networks Group Asia, said, “We are incredibly excited to announce the launch of a brand-new original series on Star World: Bolt of Talent. FNG is very much looking forward to working in partnership with Subaru to bring Michael Bolton and local industry leaders together, uncovering and harnessing Asia’s raw musical talent. This promises to be a memorable production that we hope will inspire budding singer-songwriters across the region to share their compelling stories and journeys to the top.”

“Subaru has always been a huge supporter of nurturing aspiring talents in Southeast Asia and we’re excited to be able to work with Michael Bolton to present Bolt of Talent,” added Glenn Tan, the executive director of Tan Chong International. “With his diverse, prolific singing and songwriting experience, he continues to be an inspiration to many individuals who will now have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from the internationally renowned music legend himself.”

Marc Heal, the sales director at IFA Media, commented, “IFA has worked closely with FNG for many years and we are now delighted to be partnering with Star World and Subaru on this exciting new show. It’s thrilling to bring an international star such as Michael Bolton to Asia and we are looking forward to discovering some major musical talent.”
