SINGAPORE: To celebrate 50 years of TV broadcasting in Singapore, MediaCorp and the National Heritage Board are jointly organizing the festival 50 Years of TV: Experience the Magic, which will take place from November 23 to December 21.

The month-long event will take place at the National Museum of Singapore. It will feature a host of star-studded events and activities that showcase how TV has played an integral part in nation building and has shaped Singapore's popular culture. The special 50 Years of Television: An Exhibition will celebrate the various milestones of TV in Singapore from 1963 to today.

Shaun Seow, MediaCorp’s CEO, said, “For 50 years, MediaCorp television has held up a mirror to Singapore life, reflecting social mores, culture… and sometimes even helping to shape them. The half century mark is an important milestone, and what better way to celebrate it than through a public exhibition of broadcasting's history and achievements. I'm happy to have MediaCorp partner the National Heritage Board to present TV50 exhibition, which we think will be well worth your while to visit this year end. No doubt, it will entertain, as with many things to do with TV. But it may also set you in a contemplative mood, thinking of TV—and Singapore's—past 50 years and the next."

Rosa Daniel, National Heritage Board’s CEO, said, “From early beginnings 50 years ago in Singapore’s journey as a nation. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the National Heritage Board and we are happy to celebrate the two milestones through this meaningful project. This exhibition will offer something for everyone. We have a host of exciting and varied programmes catering to all age groups and communities, with many programmes brought alive by well known TV personalities, during the Festival. I hope many Singaporeans will visit the Museum to enjoy and celebrate our shared memories of Singapore seen throughTV50."
