The Story Lab, Dentsu Aegis Network’s entertainment content division, has hired former iflix exec Donovan Castillo-Mohlman as president for the Asia Pacific, effective immediately.

Castillo-Mohlman will work under Sunil Yadav, the president for Amplifi Asia Pacific, and Michael Iskas, global president of The Story Lab. He is replacing Shuntaro Tanaka, who is resigning and moving to Dentsu in Japan. Castillo-Mohlman will lead The Story Lab brand across the region, driving initiatives in content investment, development, distribution and marketing, and working closely with producers, media owners and brands in AsiaPac. He will also concentrate on cross-market collaboration and expanding the company’s regional footprint.

Castillo-Mohlman has nearly two decades of global entertainment and management experience in the content industry. He has worked across North America, Europe and the Middle East, with more than ten years spent in the Asia Pacific. He previously served as global director of content strategy at iflix.

Yadav remarked: “Strengthening the content capability is a key focus for our group and Donovan is a great asset to lead The Story Lab in Asia Pacific. With his vast experience in content acquisition and original productions across digital, VOD and broadcast platforms, he is best-placed to accelerate the growth of The Story Lab as a unique proposition for our clients and distribution partners.”

Castillo-Mohlmann added: “Dentsu Aegis Network’s unique operating model is a key driver for me to join this group. With tablets and mobile driving even shorter screen dwell-time, it has become more important for distribution channels to have engaging content. The Story Lab’s proposition of being a global investor, producer and distributor of premium content places us at the unique intersection of leveraging data and creativity to deliver content solutions.

“I look forward to further strengthening our content capabilities across the region through the design of new, innovative models that create value for both advertisers and broadcasters for this new age of marketing.”
