Discovery Names New Southeast Asia VP

SINGAPORE: Shavkat Berdiev has been enlisted to oversee the Southeast Asian business at Discovery Networks Asia Pacific, with Louis Boswell becoming senior VP of distribution.

As VP and general manager of Southeast Asia, Berdiev reports to Arthur Bastings, Discovery Networks Asia Pacific’s president and managing director. His remit is accelerating growth of the company’s Southeast Asian business. He joins the group from Millicom, where he was most recently deputy general manager and chief commercial officer in Tanzania.

“As we continue to transform our business in Asia, taking a digital and consumer-centric approach, I am excited to have someone with Shavkat’s experience join our team,” Bastings said. “His expertise as we navigate our Southeast Asia business into a competitive quad-play distribution market and aggressively develop direct-to-consumer opportunities will be invaluable.”
